The 3rd Ottawa has been contributing to the youth and parents of Ottawa’s Westboro and McKellar Park community for over 90 years. As part of the Scouts Canada community of volunteers, we foster confidence in our youth and themselves.
Scouting provides an essential service for our community, promoting personal development, collective action, resource sharing and contributing to the overall well-being of our volunteers and youth. We help youth be confident, contributing members of our society while at the same time learning fun life skills. And yes, you have something to offer; our volunteers vary widely in skills and backgrounds and each one brings a new dimension to our programs.
- Become a Section volunteer; working directly with youth running meetings and participating in fun outdoor adventures that build character and skills kids in our community can use. We provide training in our program, youth protection training, and everything you need to become a Scouter. We gain your knowledge and experience and the youth do as well.
- Engage your skills by volunteering locally in your community – the 3rd Ottawa has roles and expertise management, leadership, finance and administration and teaching outdoor skills, fundraising, property management and more.
We also welcome high school and college youth seeking volunteer hours, and we are affiliated with the Algonquin College Volunteer Centre.
The safety of our youth is our top priority.
As a part of Scouts Canada, Canada’s largest youth organization, the 3rd Ottawa prioritizes creating a safe and enjoyable environment for all members, especially the children and youth in our community. We are dedicated to making Canada safer for our young people.
In order to join the 3rd Ottawa, we take adults through a thorough vetting process, including application forms, interviews, reference checks, police record checks (including vulnerable sector searches), and youth protection training.
