On Saturday, February 8th, the 3rd Ottawa Beavers will be participating with a number of other neighbouring colonies in a Beaver Winter Fun Day!

The Winter Fun Day will take place at Pinecrest Park, 2240 Torquay Avenue. In past years this was a big hit with the Beavers. This year, four of the 3rd Ottawa Beaver Scouters will be onsite for the day participating and running stations.

The day will include five rotations and a snack.  (Alternatives will be available for those with allergies – just let us know in advance)  Cost is $10.00 per youth and each youth will also receive an activity crest.

Opening River banks will happen at 9 AM and we will have three rotations and then break for a quick snack.  Two more rotations and closing will allow for pick up at 12:30 PM. Rotations will include an education component. Other rotations, depending on snow levels may include:  snowshoeing, smoosh boards, Klondike sleds, obstacle course, and or parachute games.  Plus, a 1 KM hike.  Most of these activities can be applied towards different stages of the Winter Outdoor Adventure Skills badge as well.

Snack – we will have hot chocolate (or warm apple juice) and a variety of snacks (based on allergies).

Beavers should bring a full water bottle, an extra pair of mitts, an extra hat, an extra pair of socks and something to carry it all in. If things can be labelled that will help us to get lost items back to their rightful owner. Payment can be made by e-transfer (jemp333@gmail.com) or by cheque (made payable to Scouts Canada, Third Ottawa) or cash.

Please let us know by Tuesday, January 28th if your Beaver will be participating, so that we came purchase supplies and finalize all plans.
